Wayne Shelton Book 3: The Contract

Wayne Shelton Book 3: The Contract, by Jean Van Hamme & Christian Denayer, Cinebook

WAYNE SHELTON is the man you call when you want the impossible done… Unsurprisingly there are those who fall never to rise again when he achieves his goal. Shelton is an individual of honourable intent however, and while that doesn’t bring back those associates of his that died in the mission that filled the first two volumes of this series, it does mean he intends to ensure their heirs receive their cut of the monies received.

It begins with Shelton conducting bank transactions in South America, but then two Aryan brothers arrive suited, booted and armed with guns. Hitmen, they’re there to take Shelton down. But why specifically? Fights in mining villages, bombs under cars, and leather clad female bikers who kiss and tell part of a story but aren’t quite coy enough to deceive our hero.

Whether it’s the CIA, someone he thought dead or someone about to end up that way, Shelton’s being hounded as he moves across continents, intent on paying his debts. The pacing is excellent, the twists of plot coherent, and this story of a mature adventurer is shaping up into something fine and dandy.
