Queen of Vampires

WHEN ARH STUDIOS decided they wanted to tell stories based on the sculptures they produced they choose the comic book route, and so was formed ARH Comix as they’ve explored the sword and sorcery, dark fantasy and science fiction niche markets.

Among those titles is Queen of Vampires, created by Arahom Radja, scripted by Abraham Kawa and illustrated by Manos Lagouvardos that is unfolding as a series of seven comics forming a graphic novel.

In Queen of Vampires lead character Arkhalla is portrayed as a powerful and cruel queen who rules over a realm of vampires and humans with an iron fist; that is until the day she falls in love.

For a woman who beauty and strength have brought even the most powerful of men to their knees this is quite something, and so the creative team delve into a story of love and redemption.

The main crux of this matter occurring around the fourth and fifth issue, as Radja explained:

“The point I would like to stress most for this issue would be the fall of Arkhalla. This issue is all about the moment she realises her feelings for Shamath which is also the same moment she finds herself betrayed by everyone, including Shamath himself.

“This is for me the most interesting aspect of this chapter, how things can change so suddenly and so much from one moment to another. This is something I’m bringing from my own personal life experiences into the stories I’m writing. You will see the same also happening in the Astria comics. Your entire life can change in a split of a second, and you can’t even foresee it coming.

“The other important thing is how Shamath became Arkhalla's savior. If we look back at the first pages of issue #1, we see Arkhalla sparing his life without even realising that he would save her life so many times and in so many ways.

“In issue #5 the readers will see Arkhalla telling Shamath that he has saved her in many ways. This is the realisation of all the wrongs she has done her whole existence and of what she actually became as a Vampire Queen. We infused a lot of depth in this story, and as I said before, the last three chapters are extremely touching and emotional.”

As the series reaches its conclusion there will a brutal final showdown between Arkhalla and Narama, the only woman to ever defeat her, and while the Queen of Vampires is reunited with Shamath it might not be a case of happy ever after.
