The Hard Code
DID YOU ever have a best friend you were secretly in love with? Now imagine you’re both cops, war is about to break out and one of you is an android. NYPD Detectives Drake and Garcia must figure out why android citizens are losing their hard code which have kept them subservient to humans for a hundred years in a project seeking crowd funding by writer Ramon Gill and celebrated artist Trevor Von Eeden.
Trevor Von Eeden is the co-creator of DC Comics’ Black Lightning superhero for whom he has also drawn Green Arrow, Batman and The Huntress, plus the groundbreaking Thriller series. He has also worked for Marvel, notably producing variant covers in recent years and wrote and illustrated The Original Johnson, a biographic graphic novel on the heavyweight boxing champion.
The Hard Code story takes place in 2268 where androids are part of everyday society and supposedly equa" citizens. Casual lovers and NYPD detectives Garcia and Drake (an artificial person herself, discover that androids are losing the hard code" that has kept them subservient for a hundred years). Tensions rise android disobedience increases and as people's fears and bigotry increases the world government considers rounding up all blue skins into internment camps. With the aid of Allegra, a mysterious woman from Drake's past, they must uncover the mystery behind the disappearing codes before full-scale war breaks out between man and machine.
As should be apparent from that little précis, The Hard Code intends to explore issues of race, slavery and sexual relationships. Kickstarter is their crowd funding source of choice and you can watch a video featuring Gill and featuring Von Eeden’s art by clicking here and then decided to pledge accordingly.
