THERE ARE just under 300 pages of comic book material in this omnibus collection wherein Akira actually appears at last (it’s a he and a young boy at that); all the various collective chases, fights, break and make new alliances, so mant it's hard to try to keep score while racing through it all.

In most hands I’d say there was little actual plot in this volume to hold my interest, but Otomo continued a unique take, as with previous volumes, on making the mundane visually intriguing and chase scenes so darned inventively exciting to keep me going.
