XIII Book 15: Operation Montecristo
XIII Book 15: Operation Montecristo, by Jean Van Hamme & William Vance, Cinebook

CORRUPT OFFICIALS within the US government have blackmailed the Costa Verde government to ensure XIII and his compatriots are extradited back to the States, though the chances of them making it there without being murdered are unlikely...
An ambush ensues by allies leading to XIII and co being once more on the run, but in need of money they go in search of the lost treasure Mullway talked about in XIII Book 11: Three Silver Watches.
There’s some necessary exposition by Van Hamme both to retrace past events and get assorted characters in place from A to B for new tactics to be able to take place, and it has to be said Vance’s art on certain pages seems to lack the detailed passion it usually has, but then around Page 32 things heat up, and with 34-38 he shows exactly what he can do with detailed atmospheric underwater action continuity that Van Hamme wisely opts not to add dialogue to.
Another bridging gap type XIII book, before we move on to some new major turning point event it feels with this book. Not great, but almost always genuinely worth the read.
