The Bluecoats Book 5 – Rumberley

The Bluecoats Book 5 – Rumberley, by Raoul Cauvin & Willy Lambil, Cinebook

WHEN THE Union army makes a strategic retreat and gather reinforcements, the cowardly Blutch is ordered to take the wounded to a safe town by the name of Rumberley, only it’s a confederate one...

Any chances of his saving his own neck are prevented by Sgt Chesterfield, wounded or not, and once they get to the town the likely hood of him getting out alive seem slim too and even getting water for the wounded presents problems.

M.A.S.H. in an American civil war environment, intended for kids, the humour doesn’t really tickle my ribs but it presents some amusing comedy of errors along the way. While not questioning the pros and cons of that civil war it does intimate some of the follies and outright hypocrisies of war in general that might get the odd youth pondering the matter and doing a bit of historical research for themselves. Ultimately though this is about characters in situations intended as humorous first and foremost.
