Yakari Book 9: Yakari and the Coyote
Yakari Book 9: Yakari and the Coyote, by Derib & Job, Cinebook
A COMIC book album for younger readers that parents will find a good excuse to sit down and read aloud, sitting beside them.
Yakari is a little native Ameri-Indian version of Dr Doolittle, and his friends the beavers bring him an abandoned canoe that he repairs before setting off on a river trip.
Taking two young human friends, when the one disappears it turns into an adventure, but the coyote who get a co-credit in the title isn’t the enemy.
Grown-up fans of The Beano’s Little Plumb may find it a pleasant enough read but it’s those who can recall the anthropomorphic nursery strips of comics like Jack & Jill or Playhour & Robin who may end up travelling down memory lane upon reading this. Whereas for the little nippers to whom this is really intended they’ll find it akin to an Aesop’s Fable all dressed up as Disney style adventure.
