Wayne Shelton Book 2: The Betrayal
Wayne Shelton Book 2: The Betrayal, by Jean Van Hamme & Christian Denayer
THIS BOOK'S less a combination of its influences and more a development of the characters that Wayne Shelton brought together in Book 1 to free a French truck driver from a Khalakjistan prison.
Interestingly a middle-aged female innkeeper and a local doctor are also introduced within this book and their interactions with the characters help develop the story, themes, end result and possibly the consciousness of the series as a whole.
With Book 1 the presumption was that this was a team book, whereas as the tale unfolds we are reminded that it is adventurer Wayne Shelton alone whose name heads the book’s title, and if you play in his dark espionage territory there is a good chance you might not make it out alive.
With some interesting twists in the tale as it draws to its conclusion, the book as a whole is paced in an even mainstream TV thriller manner, the story maintains your interest, and there may be more to offer in future books.
