The Chimpanzee Complex Book 1: Paradox
The Chimpanzee Complex Book 1: Paradox,
by Richard Marazano & Jean-Michel Ponzio, Cinebook
THE CHIMPANZEE Chimpanzee Complex is an expression taken from noting that when those animals were used prior to humans in space travel.
The creatures were intelligent enough to know they were being used experimentally but also that they could have no control to alter it, this lead to stress in the creatures and manifested itself in physical outrage.
The story begins with spacecraft landing. It is the now legendary Apollo 11. The paradox is that the year is now 2025. It all leads to America rebooting the space programme, and Helen Freeman leading a crew on a flight to Mars.
It has been Helen's lifelong dream to perform this mission; alas her daughter Sofia's concerns must come secondary.
It's a poignant story, both suspense thriller and emotional rollercoaster. Marazano's story could easily be transplanted to quality TV series or big screen and prove successful, but it's Ponzio's photo-realistic art that it truly becomes compelling.
