VOLUME 17 in UK Classics Illustrated series, this is very much a bullet point adaptation of the famous Shakespeare play, but for being several decades one way or another across the world in print still has a certain charm.

Crowd scenes and fight sequences don’t have time to breathe on the page, tending towards looking like snapshots from a theatre production, but the slow, more melodramatic scenes work pretty well with a certain noble charm in Blum’s art.

As a primer for the real thing it’s still a good package and fans of Blum’s art will appreciate it, though for a more thorough (and not just due to its page count) comic book adaptation one should check out Classic Comics’ British version. That stated, this comes at a price you can’t complain with.
