Graphic Novel Review... Parker: The Outfit
Richard Stark's Parker: The Outfit, By Richard Stark, Adapted by Darwyn Cooke
IDW
THE SYNDICATE come looking for Parker in Miami. How they know who to look for when he’s had facial plastic surgery confuses him, but not for long, and he soon finds out who fingered him. It’s not personal, it’s business.
Following on from the consequences brought to bear within The Hunter, Darwyn Cooke adapts Richard Stark’s crime fiction novel with great aplomb. A much more fully rounded tale this time round, with several subplots and some clever scheming brought to bear on the heart of the matter; not only for Parker to stay alive but in ensuring the mob don’t come after him again.
Cooke takes the sequential storytelling skills of only the best, namely Eisner and Toth, blending them into something applicable for the modern reader to make a truly graphic novel.
