New BCF Convention Guests Announced!

LAST YEAR’s Women in Comics convention panel at The Birmingham Comics Festival caused quite a stir with passions running high, and this year they are promising be more of the same!

But those women weren’t there to fill some politically correct quota. They were there because of their talent, as will those attending this year, along with some similarly great male artists known for creating strong female characters. Thus without further ado here are the latest guests being announced as attending The Birmingham Comics Festival’s convention at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium on April 23rd 2016.

Yihan Li – Acclaimed manga artist for this summer’s new Buffy The Vampire Slayer graphic novel, she’s illustrated Batwoman and Blue Beetle for DC Comics, and been published far and wide internationally.

Phil Winslade – Award-nominated artist hitting a high water mark with Lawless in 2000AD, let’s not forget his work on the Wonder Woman: Amazonia graphic novel, Goddess and Nevada, nor Batman, Daredevil and more besides.

Graham Higgins – Artist on Zippy Couriers for 2000AD, his illustrations adorns two Terry Pratchett Discworld graphic novels, his work having been published by a diverse range of publishers internationally, not least Knockabout, Punch magazine and for DC Comics.

Brox – The Birmingham Comics Festival is delighted to announce the first public engagement of the artist “formerly known as Jimmy Broxton”. From Knight & Squire at DC, to the pages of Dark Horse Presents and much more besides, this Hugo-nominated artist’s latest graphic novel, Goldtiger, will be out in time for the festival from Rebellion.
