New Guests Announced for Birmingham Comics Festival!
VIP TICKETS have sold out for the comic convention taking place at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium on Saturday 23rd April as part of 2016’s Birmingham Comics Festival!
This has all happened even without a full list of guests being announced – Proving that last year’s debut was not only a fantastic success but that people are eagerly looking forward to this year’s events due to take place throughout the city.
But what better time than now for Comic Time to reveal some great new guests who will be there at the convention this April…
Dan Abnett – Writer of countless hit series for numerous companies including The Punisher, Death’s Head 2 and Guardians of The Galaxy for Marvel, The Legion and Aquaman for DC, series such as Atavar and Durham Red for 2000AD, plus the many novels he has written for Games Workshop and HarperCollins.
John Erasmus – Film and TV storyboard artist, including Harlan Coben’s The Five due soon on Sky Living, he has illustrated adventure comics for Dark Horse and Marvel’s Epic imprint and cartoon strips for The Dandy, Toxic! and Brain Damage. He is currently illustrating the Rainforest Concern charity’s Amazonas Comics.
Mark Laming – From American Century and The Dreaming for DC’s Vertigo imprint to Uncanny Avengers and The Fantastic Four for Marvel, through to IDW, Dark Horse, Image and more over in the USA to 2000AD here in the UK, he is an exceptional artist and will be making his Birmingham debut this year.
John McCrea – One of Ireland’s finest who we’re also proud lives in our city and the man responsilbe for this great Batman illustration. Acclaimed for the award-winning Hitman series, he’s also illustrated Superboy and Plastic Man for DC, Spider-Man and Deadpool for Marvel and others, including numerous series 2000AD and the soon to be collected Mythic series for Image.
Ian Kennedy – The Birmingham Comics Festival is honoured that this true living legend of British comics is returning to the show – Because the octogenarian enjoyed himself so much! Generations have grown up admiring his artwork on Thriller Picture Library, Buster, The Hotspur, plus Commando and 2000AD for whom he still produces covers to this day.
